PreK-Kindergarten Game Play & Rules
There are 3 PreK-Kindergarten game fields-BALLS WILL BE PROVIDED
Teams will play 3 vs 3 or 4 v. 4 (coach’s choice)
2-10 minute halves (one coach or parent will need to keep time)
Substitute players every 3 to 5 minutes
The game begins with a “kick off” at center field, players line up on their half of the field-teams facing each other. The goal behind your team is the goal you are defending and the goal your team is facing is the goal you need to score in.
Coaches decide which team is going to kick-off and pick one player to kick the ball forward to start the game play (the kicker cannot touch the ball again until another player, either team, has touched it)
When a team scores a goal, the game is stopped and the ball is brought back to the center field for the opposing team to kick off
There are no goalies at this level of play and players may not use their hands
If and when a player falls down please encourage them to get back to their feet as quickly as possible, they may not play the ball while on the ground
When the ball crosses the out of bounds line on the sidelines or end lines, this ends play and a throw-in is needed to begin play again. The ball is “out” from the team who last contacted the ball, the opposing team gets to throw the ball in. Please work on proper throw-ins during the game
Both feet need to remain on the ground before and during the throw-in: we encourage you to have your players cross their legs
Both hands must remain on the ball and come behind their head before releasing the overhead pass
If a player contacts the ball with their hands, stop the game quickly to remove it from their hands and remind them they cannot use their hands, then continue game play
When the time is up and the game is over please bring your team together for a huddle and a cheer for the other team.
